Description:

Position Purpose:

Patrols MercyOne Medical Center’s Emergency Department to prevent fire, theft, vandalism and illegal entry. Periodically tours ED and checks doors. Detains unauthorized persons for questioning, calls local law enforcement if needed. Monitors safety of high risk patients in the ED. Escorts ED patients as requested. Adheres to MercyOne’s performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of MercyOne.

What you will Do:

Acts in the capacity of Waterloo Police officer

Makes rounds/patrols ED.

Responds to and resolves problems.

Provides documentation.

Coordinates efforts to maintain/improve safety

Adheres to all safety, infection control and employee health policies and procedures.

Hours/Schedule:

PRN (as needed/as available)

Minimum Qualifications:

Completion of Law Enforcement Academy. Completion of Waterloo Police Department field training program or Sheriff Department Deputy training program.State certified Law Enforcement Officer in good standing with Waterloo Police Department or Black Hawk County Sheriff Department. Mandatory Reporter. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (NVCI) within 6 months of hire.

Intermediate language, basic math, intermediate reasoning ability. Ability to understand and use officer discretion appropriately. Ability to remain calm and professional under adverse situations, while supporting a service-oriented atmosphere. No serious or aggravated misdemeanor or felony convictions. Must submit to background investigation.
