GE Vernova Supplier Quality Engineer BoP&MSD piping in Warsaw, Poland

Job Description Summary

Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible to drive product qualification activities related to BoP scope which to be mainly but not limit to piping commodities.

Support parts and documentation quality activities at suppliers, organize witness/surveillance inspection and manage nonconformities and quality improvement projects within the supply base for the assigned product scope.

Her/his main internal stakeholders will be Factory Quality, Procurement and Engineering teams as well as various Steam Power Project Quality and Management teams, with the division of work defined by supplier Quality RACI SPS-PR-0284. This role will initiate and execute supplier development activities and assure suppliers quality performance that will allow for successful execution of procurement strategy and meet customer expectations on quality, cost and lead time.

Job Description

Supplier Quality Engineer will:

  • Manage supply chain in BOP&MSD SQ team in piping division.

  • Participate in Package Management teams.

  • Work with procurement teams to define / agree / communicate to all stakeholders a roadmap for supplier development activities, identifying the SQ tasks to ensure the right supply chain performance to meet business objectives.

  • Track and drive progress against roadmap commitments with regular reports to stakeholders and management.

  • Execute activities to drive quality, delivery and compliance excellence within the supply base for the assigned product scope.

These activities include:

Supplier on-boarding and qualification:

  • Assess suppliers QMS and manage Supplier approval through audits according to DIR-0102 .

  • Assess suppliers manufacturing capability and manage Supplier approval through according to DIR-0104,

  • Support Nuclear Safety and Quality Assessor during Supplier NS qualification and follow up on action plan with Supplier according to NNC-WI-1026

Supplier assessment and development:

  • Attend pre-award meetings with suppliers and Sourcing/Engineering,

  • Review and update suppliers’ qualification status based on their performance assessment according to DIR-0106.

  • Initiate and manage supplier development actions and Q improvement plans according SPS-WI-0570.

  • Drive a strong EHS culture throughout the supply base.

  • Support cost-out opportunities identified by the suppliers.

  • Propose improvement projects to increase the effectiveness of the processes.

Purchase Order Kick-off Meetings, Pre-Inspection Meetings and supplier documentation:

  • Prepare the list of documents to be delivered by the supplier (DL001).Organize supplier quality documentation review with Engineering and external expert service providers and, where applicable, review supplier quality documentation according to PMF-0045,

  • Organize the kick-off & pre-inspection meetings with suppliers and relevant GE representatives according to DIR-0105,

Execution of surveillance inspections:

  • Set up inspection strategy managed in MTA-ITTS and manage/witness inspection at suppliers according to WIA-0100,

  • Perform the surveillance inspections for the critical equipment and suppliers, as necessary

  • Ensure product compliance with contract requirements and applicable regulations

  • Timely review, validate and distribute inspection reports.

Release material for shipment:

  • Ensure all deviations are closed and End of Manufacturing Reports (EoMR) reviewed in time,

  • Authorize shipment once all quality requirements are met.

Manage technical deviations:

  • Record and/or distribute nonconformities identified at suppliers,

  • Continuously follow up the punch items and nonconformities up to their closure .

  • Drive RCA with suppliers, with 8D at least following High & Critical NCRs, support/lead critical root cause analysis and create the right corrective actions and preventative actions ensuring its implementation.

  • Analyse Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ) and support Sourcing claim process,

Basic Qualifications

  • Education in quality, materials, engineering or manufacturing (minimum Master’s degree).

  • 5 years career in Power Generation Industry with experience of manufacturing, quality control inspections, sourcing and/or engineering.

  • 8D problem resolution, FMEA and other related quality methodologies.

  • Lean Six Sigma certified or equivalent (demonstrated experience) is an advantage.

  • ISO auditor certified by 3rd party registrar or accepted internal GE training/certification program is an advantage.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Knowledge in of the key manufacturing process for the assigned scope of commodities such us pipes, valves, tanks and steel structure.

  • Experience in working with codes and standards: EN, RCC-M, UKCA, PED

  • Strong quality mindset with proven use of the quality tool kit in risk assessment, 8D and manufacturing process controls.

  • Good project management skills with proven experience to define/delegate and coordinate mission-based tasks.

  • Aptitude to create and deliver reports for review by key stakeholders.

  • Customer-focused and goal-oriented attitude.

  • Capacity to read and interpret engineering drawings and standards.

  • Decision maker with excellent problem-solving skills.

  • Strong communication skills in English and Polish languages. French is nice to have.

  • Flexibility and willingness to travel to suppliers (up to 30%).

  • Multi-cultural communication skills
