    Position Summary:

    The primary duties of the position include (but are not limited to): determine the nature and location of theemergency; determine priorities, and dispatch EMS or other emergency units as necessary(ranging from routine to critical) and in accordance with established procedures; manages situations asconditions change; perform Emergency Medical Dispatch, including pre-arrivalinstructions using available resources; receive and process emergency calls, maintain contact with allunits on assignment, maintain status and location of EMS units; answer non-emergency calls for assistance; enter, update and retrieve information from a variety of computersystems; receive & respond to requests regarding non-emergency transfers from medical facilities, monitor numerous public safety radio frequencies; operate a variety of communications equipment, including radio consoles, telephones and computer systems; other duties as required.

    Qualifications:

    EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma or equivalent CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS National Incident Mgmt System (NIMS) 100 within 6 months and National Incident Mgmt System (NIMS) 200 within 6 months and National Incident Mgmt System (NIMS) 700 within 6 months and National Incident Mgmt System (NIMS) 800 within 6 months and Hazardous Materials Awareness Certification within 6 months and Emergency Response to Terrorism (ERT) Certification within 6 months and Emergency Medical Dispatcher (IAED) within 1 year. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Knowledge of EMS Systems and unit deployment strategy, ability to multitask. Knowledge of radio operations. Knowledge of medical terminology. Good oral and written communication skills. Computer and keyboarding skills. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Computer and keyboarding skills with knowledge of Windows programming, IPA, Zoll online, RescueNet Dispatching software, and Medicare billing knowledge. Working knowledge of EMS systems.

    Essential Functions:

  • Recieve incoming emergency and non-emergency requests for service.

  • Help facilitate appropriate deployment of resources

  • Determine call urgency and location of situation

  • Dispatch appropriate unit to respond to emergency and non-emergency requests for amublance service based on the type of call and time.

  • Schedules non-emergency transfers so that utilization of units and personnel is enhanced and so that conflicts in scheduling do not occur (such as coordinating more transfers at one time than we have personnel/equipment to handle appropriately).

  • Maintain PHI in accordance with HIPAA

  • Account for and ensure field resource safety at all times.

  • Deal with stressful situations with poise and professionalism

  • Be able to prioritize based on changing need

  • Maintain thorough working knowledge of loca geography, which includes maps, streets, and grid book systems.

  • Prepare accurate and timely statistical reports and appropriate paperwork.

  • Knowledge of company and departmental policies, operating procedures and protocols.

  • Monitor enroute and response times

  • Monitor staff and vehicle movement or posting
