    Position Summary:

    The RN Supervisor is responsible for supporting the Nurse Manager in the administrative duties of the clinical unit and providing leadership through collaboration with the healthcare team and maintaining standards of professional nursing practice in the clinic setting. This position will participate in organizational and department based quality improvement activities and provide input on standards of care to maintain the clinical competencies needed to provide direct patient care when the need arises.

    Qualifications:

    EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS BSN CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS National Nursing Certification within three (3) years of hire, Registered Nurse (RN) Illinois, and Basic Life Support (BLS) EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 2-3 years experience Pediatric Nursing in Ambulatory Setting, including case management, disease management, and telephone triage. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Must demonstrate clinical leadership, good communication skills, and the ability to multi-task. Must be willing and able to accept and institute change. Must work together with a team, along with being able to work independently. Needs excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

    Essential Functions:

  • Coordinates daily nursing and staffing activities of Patient Care unit and shares on-call responsibilies with leadership team.

  • Ensures staff members are adequately trained and are competent to perform all required job tasks.

  • Recommend various personnel actions including but not limited to hiring, performance appraisals, and promotions; make work assignments and review and edit work of subordinates.

  • Assists in the development and review of department policies, procedures, standing orders, orientation, continuing education and competencies.

  • Resolves work related issues, or assists employees in solving work related issues, confers with manager to resolve more complex situations.

  • Supports the Manager in response to customer service issues with patients, families, providers and all other staff.

  • Supports the Manager in collecting information for accreditation surveys and departmental audits. Actively assists the Manager with implementation of the recommended changes.

  • Provides and facilitates competent health care of patients and families in area of practice. Ensures adherence to established standards of care and scope of practice.

  • Develops, implements and participates in Quality Improvement initiatives and performs quality audits as directed/needed.

  • Create and manage a high-risk pediatric population registry; tracking patients to ensure care coordination across the continuum.

  • Act as a clinical liaison for patient care.

  • Meet families before NICU discharge and follow up after NICU discharge to obtain an dupdate information and assist with coordination of care.
