General Summary
This position leads EHS management efforts across the Automotive BU in the EMEA region. The position will report directly to the Global EHS Director, based in San Diego, California, USA. As a member of the Global EHS Team, this position is responsible for driving the overall EHS performance, management, and coordination of EHS compliance programs at all owned and leased facilities that house electronic R&D laboratories and general administrative offices, in Sweden, Germany, and Romania. Position is based in Timișoara, Romania.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Liaison with Corporate headquarter EHS functions to develop EMEA EHS roadmaps, objectives and targets in support of strategic initiatives
Develop and implement relevant EHS programs to ensure compliance with national and local regulations and company standards
Build EMEA EHS capability by coordinating and aligning regional resources and key stakeholders for program implementation and best practice sharing
Identify future EHS improvements, provide guidance and hands-on support to the regional business units in order to drive, manage, and set accountability for safety and environment
Lead and support sustainability initiatives and projects to reduce GHG, waste and water
Work with site leaders to assure global EHS requirements and programs are well deployed; and company standards and other applicable standards, including guidance on handling compliance, inspections and citations are understood; assure closure of regulatory agency findings on a timely basis
Review incidents, including near-misses, releases, and losses, and accidents to determine root causes and recommend corrective and preventative action plans
Evaluate EHS risks and challenges for new projects and develop appropriate risk mitigation strategies
Support site / country-level safety committees
Plan and direct response to emergency situations dealing with the environment, employees, or the community
Perform EHS inspections and assure accurate and complete EHS reporting of metrics
IT Core Competencies

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in environmental, health, safety or scientific or related engineering field; or Qualified Health and Safety Officer with Romania degree in Health and Safety Management (Managementul Securitatii si Sanatatii in Munca)
5-8 years’ experience in EHS, with demonstrated experience in managing EHS programs in a company with global operations
Fire Safety basic training certification (Cadru Tehnic PSI)
3+ years’ experience in OHSAS18001, ISO14001, ISO45001 or similar accredited EHS management systems
Fluent English, proficiency in local languages
Knowledge and awareness of different European countries EHS laws and regulations and of most widely used international standards
Experience prioritizing and managing multiple and technical assignments concurrently
Analytical, problem-solver, and project management experience
Experience establishing and maintaining cross-functional working relationships
Broad communication skills and demonstrated experience in understanding of business value drivers
Ability to travel, 25-30%, including international
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in environmental, health, safety or scientific or related engineering field; and/or Risks and Auditing Evaluator in Health and Safety training 240 hour (Evaluator de Risc si Auditor in Domeniul SSM)
Certification as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), NEBOSH General Certificate, or equivalent EHS-related certification/certificate
Physical Requirements
May involve occasional work in a cold, hot, high noise, at heights, or wet environment
Work may be required outside of the standard 8-hour workday, including weekends
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry up to 25 lbs. and remain standing or walking for extended periods in the performance of site inspection and compliance activities
Perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, standing, and walking significant distances
In general, the position requires a combination of sedentary work and walking around observing conditions
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of Environment Health & Safety related work experience.
OR
Associate's degree and 7+ years of Environment Health & Safety related work experience.
OR
High School Diploma or equivalent and 9+ years of Environment Health & Safety related work experience.
*Completed advanced degrees in a relevant field may be substituted for up to two years (Master’s = one year, Doctorate = two years) of work experience.
Preferred Qua lifications:
• Master's degree in EHS related field.
• 7+ years of Environment Health & Safety related work experience.
• Internationally recognized accredited safety professional certification or credential.
• 1+ year of work experience in a role requiring interaction with senior leadership (e.g., Sr Director level and above).
• 1+ year of experience working in a large matrixed organization.
• 1+ year in a leadership role with or without direct reports.
