Financial Analyst

The Financial Analyst develops, interprets and implements financial and accounting concepts or techniques for financial planning and control. These duties include analyzing financial information to determine present and future performance and identifying trends and making recommendations accordingly. This role will be responsible for recording and monitoring the capitalization of fixed assets, preparing peer group analysis, assisting with account reconciliations, general ledger account reviews, as well as internal and external audit requests and other compliance requirements.

This is primarily an onsite position located at our corporate office in Solvay, NY.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, a comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles and strong analytical skills, as well as 1 to 3 years of public accounting or banking experience.

Position Title: Reports To:

Financial Analyst Assistant Controller

POSITION SUMMARY:

Develops, interprets, and implements complex financial and accounting concepts, or

techniques for financial planning and control.

JOB RESPONSBILITIES

  • Analyzes financial information to determine present and future financial performance.

  • Identifies trends and recommends improvements accordingly.

  • Coordinates with management to gather, analyze, summarize, and prepare recommendations regarding financial plans, new business planning, trended future requirements, government requirements, and operating forecasts.

  • Prepares and/or supports all reporting aspects including expense control management, variance reporting, new business planning, trend analysis, government filings, and operating forecasts.

  • Record and monitor the capitalization of fixed assets , including the recording of depreciation, performing monthly reconciliations, and accounting for the purchase and/or disposition of fixed assets.

  • Performs required credit reviews of corporate and municipal & government entities for investments.

  • Prepares peer group analysis with recommendations and/or strategies to management.

  • Assists as necessary with aspects of cash reconciliations and liquidity needs.

  • Performs account reconciliations, general ledger account reviews, and makes recommendations to ensure adequate internal controls over financial reporting.

  • Assists with internal and external audit requests and requirements.

  • Performs other tasks as requested by manager as they relate to the bank and its functions.

  • Adheres to bank policies and procedures.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles and strong analytical skills.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • PC skills with a Windows environment.

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • 4-year college degree in accounting or finance

  • 1 - 3 years accounting or banking experience preferred
