IFF is a global leader in Food Ingredients and Flavors and we are constantly looking for new challenges and developing new-to-world solutions that answer them. We are now looking for a dynamic talent to join our Japan Nourish team asFood Technologist (Designer II), Beverage and Dairy.

Your Focus

As Food Technologist (Designer II), you will conduct product development work in various Beverage and Dairy application on all IFF product lines. You will provide technical services to Japan and Korea customers in order to support IFF business in Beverage, Dairy, Health Ingredients and Food industries to meet IFF business objectives.

The role is Japan based and will report to Design Team Leader, Beverages.

How you will contribute

  • Lead Beverage and Dairy projects in development of new solutions and application, or modification of existing products, recipes or processes based on needs of our customers, as well as enlarge IFF solution or concept pool for future business opportunities.

  • Provide timely technical support and knowledge, using flavors, textural, stabilizing ingredients including hydrocolloids, emulsifiers, enzyme, protein and other functional ingredients into Beverage and Dairy applications, to internal and external customers. Prioritize delivery based on customer status and project business impact. Specifically:

o Professional & timely responses in line with agreed timeframes

o Accurate & detailed technical project work and associated reports

o Cost effective approaches and solutions to technical support projects

  • Run laboratory trials on formulations of various Beverage and Dairy products as required.

  • Ensure all activities are in line with IFF policies, business strategies and Global Innovation Rules as well as safety, hygiene and efficient day-to-day operations of the Beverage and Dairy laboratory and facilities.

  • Regularly update and maintain technical information into relevant IFF databases as and when necessary.

  • Commitment to all company policies, rules, regulations, IFF quality and continuous improvement programs.

  • Attend and contribute to relevant knowledge meetings, various Company local and regional conferences, trade exhibitions and business meetings where required.

  • Assist and support line manager for projects and Technical-Service-Requests development, as well as project or lab management.

  • Share knowledge with cross function teams and present IFF products knowledge and application technology to both internal and external customers.

  • Help or support troubleshoot in design formulation and processing related issues.

  • Manage technical related projects with minimal supervision, collaborate with Group Leaders and support any other tasks or projects assigned by the Group Design Leader.

Job Requirements

What you will need to be successful

  • Bachelor degree in Food Science, Food & Nutrition, Food Technology or any other relevant discipline.

  • At least 5-7 years of relevant industrial experience in Beverage, Dairy, Flavors, Food Ingredients industry or equivalent.

  • Strong experience in designing product formulation for Beverage or Dairy product category.

  • Good understanding of plant/milk-fermented drink, dry blended beverage, nutritional benefits in protein beverages and agglomerations.

  • Sound knowledge of Food Ingredients including:

o Raw material knowledge

o Product development and formulation

o Beverage or Dairy processing parameters

o Understanding of commercial factors that affect product cost and selling price

  • Good communication skill for Japanese and English language both written and verbal.

  • Willing to travel within sub-region or Asia region as and when required by project or business needs.

  • Computer literate, comfortable with IT System or Applications.

  • Logical, methodical and analytical thought processes.

  • Proactive, self-motivation and a good team player.

  • Accuracy and attention to details with agility to adapt in changing environment.

  • Technical problem-solving skills with the ability to influence.

  • Good prioritization, planning, time management and organizing skills.
