Our Libraries and Historical Resources department is in need of a Youth and Family Services Coordinator, capable of developing goals, managing timelines, and prioritizing work effectively. As part of the Coordinator Team, you will contribute to both daily operations and long-term planning, serving as a subject-matter expert to advise the Director, Management Team and others in the community on behalf of services to youth and families. This position starts out between $55,577.60 - $60,008.00, benefits begin within 60 days of hire, and there are countless opportunities for both growth and development. In this role you will be responsible for customer service/community engagement, program development/project facilitation, management, marketing, and staff development. This can include, but is not limited to...

  • Guide strategic planning with Youth Services co-workers for optimum service delivery.

  • Implement standards of service that ensure the prompt and efficient resolution of each inquiry from internal and external customers, delivered with the utmost courtesy and respect.

  • Keep abreast of developments, new trends, and innovations in libraries.

  • Represent Sarasota County to library users, youth-serving agency representatives and the general public.

  • Demonstrate the value of library services to the community, through ongoing assessment of services.

  • Form strategic partnerships with representatives of community agencies, organizations and institutions.

  • Communicate about and advocates for quality services for children teens and families.

  • Establish core programming priorities for youth and family services.

  • Assess program quality, using customer and staff feedback to inform for future improvement.

  • Review and evaluates external programs to determine application for use in libraries.

  • Employ sound project management principles in planning and implementation of programs and services.

  • Partner with branch staff to develop content for elective programs.

  • Supervise direct reports to encourage individual performance as well as a high-functioning team.

  • Ensure compliance with policies, principles and practices.

  • Participate in the development of an integrated marketing and communications plan.

  • Develop marketing materials and templates to promote instructional classes, programs, and special events.

  • Supervise direct reports to coach individual performance, encourage contribution to a high-functioning team.

  • Identify training needs and implements plans to meet those needs.

  • Collaborate with others to source training opportunities, utilizing strategic partnerships.

  • Provide opportunities for continuing professional development of self and others.

About the Schedule

Work Hours:

  • Full-Time, 40 hours per week

  • Must be available Sunday - Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

About You

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Education, Social Work, Public Administration, Marketing, Non Profit Management or related field and two (2) years experience.

  • Six (6) years of professional experience can be substituted at management discretion.

  • Related professional program/project management may substitute for the required education.

  • Valid Florida Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working in a public library.

Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.

Physical Demands: This position must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs by pushing/pulling carts capable of weighing up to this amount.
