The successful applicants will join a vibrant team of researchers committed to understanding the biology of pathological aggression and tic disorders. Our research is based on a translational strategy, which combines clinical and preclinical research with a strong focus on the development of novel therapies for these disorders. To this end, we have developed unique models of these conditions, and have already successfully translated some of our discoveries into clinical trials. Our multifaceted approach integrates behavioral, biochemical, molecular biological, and neuroanatomical techniques, and offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge research and make a tangible impact in these critical areas of medical science. Our laboratory collaborates with a vast network of biologists and clinicians all over the world and is currently spearheading clinical and preclinical research to solve some of the major questions related to these disorders, including the mechanisms of sex differences, as well as the neural processes whereby stress exacerbates symptoms.Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in Pharmacology, Neuroscience, Molecular Biology, Neuroendocrinology, or related fields with an established track record in one or more of the following:1. Protein analyses.2. Immunofluorescence.3. Behavioral procedures - rodents, preferably previous experience with operant chambers.Experience with animal models is essential.Proven experience in working with research animals (mice and rats) required. Knowledge of behavioral paradigms and tests, complex laboratory techniques, equipment, terminology, materials, and substances.Proven experience in biochemical analyses such as western blot, immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, PCR and qPCR, ELISA required.Skills in the use of laboratory equipment, stereotaxical manipulation, ability to create and analyze statistical calculations and prepare reports and manuscripts required.Demonstrated human relations, coordination and supervision of laboratory activities, laboratory management, and effective communication skills also required.Previous experience in optogenetic, neuroanatomical tract-tracing, operant conditioning chamber, and self-administration are preferred. Ph.D. in the field of Neuroscience, Pharmacology, Pharmacotherapy, Toxicology. Proven experience in working with research animals and in biochemical analyses. Knowledge of steroids, neuroactive steroids, brain neurotransmitters (serotonin, dopamine). Fluency in English (written and oral).
