Heidelberg Materials is seeking a qualified Mechanic for our Lockport Shop facility located in Romeoville, IL.

The Mechanic will repair and maintain mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment, such as bulldozers, front-end loaders, trucks, cranes, graders, crushers and conveyors used in quarry operations.

What You'll Get To Do

  • Safety and proficiently perform maintenance work as assigned, including mechanical, electrical on equipment, welding and cutting with torch.

  • Operate various types of Mobile Equipment

  • Maintain gas and diesel engines and related components on mobile equipment

  • Work on and trouble shoot pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.

  • Reading and interpretation of diagrams, prints, and schematics.

  • Perform preventative maintenance (PM) on equipment for an extended period of time until employee develops a good understanding of equipment.

  • Write part list for purchase orders using related manuals.

  • Proficiently use test and diagnostic equipment

  • This list is not all inclusive. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as deemed necessary for the efficient operation of the facility.

  • Some travel to Illinois and NWI plants will be required.

  • What We Are Looking For

  • Must possess a minimum high school diploma or GED. Additional technical training preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years heavy industrial mobile mechanical maintenance experience

  • Must be able to work at heights

  • Able to read, understand, and implement written instruction

  • Some welding experience desired

  • Open pit mining operations and aggregate products experience preferred

  • MSHA/OSHA training a plus
