Job Description Summary
The UK Senior Licensing Engineer, Regulatory Affairs, based in the UK, will complete various regulatory work scopes in the UK including New Power Plant Licensing (NPPL), and work with GE-Hitachi Nuclear Energy Americas LLC (GEH) and Global Nuclear Fuels LLC (GNF) Engineering and Regulatory Affairs teams on major projects.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
As the UK Senior Licensing Engineer, Regulatory Affairs, you will perform the following for GEH reactors to be deployed in the UK:
Participate under the direction of the UK Licensing Manager, Regulatory Affairs, in task associated with the nuclear regulatory review process in the UK with the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) and the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS)
Coordinate with GEH/GNF Engineering and NPPL Regulatory Affairs teams in the UK, US, and other countries in support of the nuclear regulatory review process
Coordinate, prepare, and review input to new reactor licensing application submittals
Coordinate and prepare licensing reports including preparation of responses to customer, ONR and BEIS questions
Interface with customers, regulatory personnel, contractors, and industry working groups on regulatory issues, and to secure applicable permissions and approvals related to work scopes
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in a science or engineering discipline from an accredited university or college (OR Master's Degree in a science or engineering discipline from an accredited university or equivalent experience
Proven related professional work experience
Strong experience performing / providing input into nuclear safety evaluations, including satisfaction of regulatory requirements for nuclear regulatory documents
Some experience involving complex projects, and providing regulatory guidance and feedback to support those projects
Excellent technical writing skills and oral communication skills in English with the ability to create technical reports suitable for a wide range of audiences
Desired Qualifications:
2 or more years in UK new power plant licensing including the Generic Design Assessment (GDA) pre-application process and new power plant site licensing
Management experience in Regulatory Affairs or large engineering projects
Working knowledge of boiling water reactor (BWR) systems, fuel, or operations, with specific experience with Advanced Boiling Water Reactor (ABWR) or Economically Simplified Boiling Water Reactor (ESBWR) engineering or licensing desired
Experience and demonstrated effectiveness in working / communicating with nuclear regulators
Experience working with nuclear industry groups
International licensing experience
Effective interpersonal and facilitation skills
Process skills related to coordinating and documenting complex technical documents
Externally focused: takes action to enhance the reputation of the company / represents the company well at all opportunities
Clear thinker: communicates messages clearly and concisely with the ability to make decisions with speed and accuracy based on the best available information / ability to sift through complex information and focus on critical few priorities
Assess potential impacts of regulatory landscape on business and customers

Ability to work effectively with technical leaders
