The Opportunity

This position works out of our Plymouth, MN location in the Electrophysiology division. In Abbott’s Electrophysiology (EP) business, we’re advancing the treatment of heart disease through breakthrough medical technologies in atrial fibrillation, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.

As the Sr. Supplier Quality Technician, you’ll have the chance to assist engineers in developing and maintaining quality engineering methodologies and providing quality technical support within new product development, manufacturing, or system/services support.

What You’ll Work On

  • Ownership of Nonconforming Material Records (NCMRs) for supplied components and sub-assemblies and assist in the resolution of nonconformances.

  • Initiate Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs), and Supplier Change Requests (SCRs)

  • Assist in completing and reviewing SAP transactions for NCMR dispositioning, Quality Info Record (QIR) updates, and batch record reviews.

  • Initiate and own change orders for Supplier Quality documentation including Receiving Inspection Procedures (RIPs), Component Quality Plans (CQPs), First Article Inspections (FAIs), and Component Quality Reports (CQRs).

  • Assist and perform Gage R&R studies.

  • Assist in collecting and performing Supplier Quality Data Analyses including metrics for Quality Data Reviews (QDRs).

  • Assist in reviewing component and sub-assembly specifications.

  • Create and perform First Article Inspections (FAIs) for supplied components and sub-assemblies.

  • Create Component Quality Plans (CQPs) for supplied components and sub-assemblies.

  • Assist in creating and updating Receiving Inspection Procedures (RIPs) for supplied components and sub-assemblies.

  • Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED or an equivalent combination of education and work experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of related work experience including:

  • Previous experience in assisting with First Article Inspections (FAIs), Gage R&R studies, validations, calibration, test methods, and NCMR dispositioning.

  • Knowledge of Quality Systems, FDA regulations, ISO 13485, GMP, and applicable worldwide regulatory requirements.

  • Experience with optical measurement equipment, hand tools, gages, pressure and force gage testing

  • Experience with sampling techniques

  • Good communication and computer skills, including data analysis and report writing skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior medical device experience

The base pay for this position is $20.55 – $41.15 per hour. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
