Comcast Cable Communications, LLC Scientist 4, Data Science in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Provide technical leadership to a team responsible for providing deep insights and advanced analytics to senior leaders across Comcast Cable to support the strategic decisions that drive Comcast's growth, improve its products, and improve its customers' experiences; use both supervised and unsupervised Machine Learning methods and econometrics to develop Linear Regression, Classification, Regression Tree, Random Forest, XGBoost, Neural Network, Clustering algorithms, and Natural Language Processing; evaluate events using analytical approaches including Match Pairing or A/B test design; design Time-series Forecasting; use programming and database languages including SQL, Python, Scala, and R; use big data languages including Scala and PySpark along with frameworks and libraries for Cloud Infrastructure, Object Storage, and Distributed Computing; use Data Visualization Softwares including Tableau, ggplot2, and matplotlib; develop analytical tools including industry leading valuation methodology of content within cable package, time-series forecasting model, churn driver analysis, and customer lifetime value calculation; conduct analyses that drive meaningful change on key objectives established by senior Comcast leadership; lead projects with minimal guidance from the directors by appropriately defining the scope, applying appropriate analytical techniques, and communicating findings clearly and concisely through narrative-driven presentations to Comcast Executives and decision makers; develop analytic plans and testable hypotheses for key business questions raised by partners to ensure that all important questions are addressed fully, appropriately, and accurately; synthesize actionable insights by joining together large data sets from across the company using programming languages including Python, R, Scala, SQL; apply appropriate advanced quantitative techniques on the appropriate platform such as Databricks; communicate findings clearly and concisely through narrative-driven presentations and effective data visualization to Comcast executives and decision makers; and guide and mentor junior level scientists. Position is eligible to work remotely one or more days per week, per company policy.

 

REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, Analytics, or related quantitative field, and two (2) years of post-baccalaureate experience using Machine Learning for Linear Regression, Classification, Regression Tree, Random Forest, XGBoost,  and Clustering algorithms; using programming and database languages including SQL, Python, and R; of which one (1) year of experience includes using Data Visualization Software including Tableau, ggplot2, or matplotlib; working with Neural Network and Natural Language Processing; evaluating effects of an event using analytical approaches including Match Pairing or A/B test design; and using big data languages including Scala or PySpark, along with frameworks and libraries for Cloud Infrastructure, Object Storage, and Distributed Computing.*
