About the role at Caterpillar

In this role you will provide sales support for the for the industry representative covering Canadian dealers Finning and Toromont for the underground mining business. This position requires familiarity with Caterpillar’s processes, systems, and methodologies. This position will assist with the industry representative with the identification, analysis, and resolution of needs and problems in the mining machine business in Canada. Expected goals include assisting industry representative with delivering key results related to underground mining equipment sales, market share, and developing the dealer.

In this position, you, along with your manager and the industry representative, will direct your development and continual learning through experience and staying abreast of technology changes. Key learning comes from continued experience in the assigned industry, enhancing communication and people relationship skills, improving problem-solving and analysis ability, building and using business skills, enhancing the use of Caterpillar systems, and developing leadership abilities. In this position you must stay abreast of industry and technology changes and relate those changes to Caterpillar, dealer, and customer needs.

This is a 4 month intern position, May -August 2022

Basic Requirements:

  • 4-year university Degree

  • Mining job-related experience

  • Solid understanding of mining and earthmoving fundamentals

  • Good understanding of Caterpillar underground mining equipment

  • Willing to learn

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Solid mining machine economic analysis capability – Cost Per Ton (CPT) analysis

  • Experience of working in the surface or underground mines

  • Project management experience

  • Good interpersonal skills to persuade others for the mutual benefit

  • Ability to work independently and with tight deadlines

Additional Information:

  • Work location is Toronto, Edmonton or Montreal

  • Relocation assistance is not available
