Title: (NORFOLK NAVY LODGE) ASSET PROTECTION/SAFETY TECHNICIAN - HOSPITALITY Location: United States-Virginia-Norfolk Job Number: 240001G5 Job Summary: Oversees the Asset Protection Safety APS functions of assigned Navy Exchange Service Command Navy Hospitality Group NHG facilities to ensure protection of property assets employees and guests. Maintains records management and certifications required by Department of Navy, NAVSUP law and Standard Operating Procedures. Trains staff in established emergency procedures and implements accident and fire prevention procedures as needed. Duties and Responsibilities : Maintains physical security and safety of assigned NEX facilities by adhering to site specific operating procedures by utilizing Access and Key Control systems, Closed Circuit Television, CCTV Electronic Article Surveillance, EAS, Fire and Intrusion Detection Systems IDS, Emergency Response Procedures, ERP and Anti-Terrorism Force Protection ATFP and HPCON measures. Patrols and maintains surveillance throughout assigned NEX facilities and grounds, parking lots, sidewalks, etc. to prevent identify and detect losses and dishonest acts such as theft, fraud ,waste or abuse along with identifying and addressing any potential safety issues. Maintains various records discrepancy reports etc. for facilities assigned. Provides guest assistance information as necessary to include assistance with room access. Prepares APS reports, concerning security related incidents, accident reports and advises chain of command of any unusual occurrences. Maintains any APS documentation as assigned investigations, audits, discrepancy reports etc. . Assists in investigations as assigned, directed and operational assessments reviews consistent with company provided training and the APS Manual for assigned locations. Responds to accidents, safety issues, assists guests and associates during emergency situations, assists, contacts Law Enforcement and or Base Officials as needed. Exercises tact and diplomacy with guests and associates while carrying out assignments and diffusing or de-escalating aggressive confrontations, using tact, courtesy and assertiveness. As assigned or dictated by Force Protection Conditions FPCON checks identification to insure only authorized persons are permitted on premises. Makes recommendations for revisions, improvements where physical security and or safety deficiencies and or weaknesses have been identified. Ensures fire alarms, physical security and safety items are in proper working order and reports any conditions which might constitute fire or safety accident hazards. Works under the supervision of a designated APS Supervisor who regularly provides procedures, regulations and instructions concerning APS functions while communicating with lodge management. Review of work is made in terms of adequacy and compliance with applicable policies, procedures and instructions. Furnishes information such as types of services available hours of operation direction etc. and or directs, assists guests to location of desired service. Performs other related duties as assigned This position is represented by the American Federation of Government Employees, Local 53 Qualifications: No experience training or education are required. EVALUATION OF CANDIDATES All guards are expected to bring to the job alertness, tact, integrity and ability to learn guard rules, regulations, pertinent laws, general and special orders and administrative procedures relating to security programs. Person-to-person contacts form an important and significant part of the total work of the guard and identification checker. Ability to communicate effectively is important to continued success.
