Robert Half Staff Accountant in New York, New York

Description We are offering a role in the financial industry, specifically in the New York location. The position is a Staff Accountant, with a focus on credit clerk functions. This is a short-term contract engagement where you will be working in a fast-paced environment, handling customer credit applications and maintaining accurate customer credit records.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with department heads to develop and implement department and program budgets

• Review and analyze budget proposals, providing insight into fund requests

• Monitor revenue and expense actuals, compare them to projections, and investigate any discrepancies

• Enter and review invoice information into relevant finance software

• Perform ongoing analysis to monitor any miscoded revenue/expense, coordinating with accounting and grants teams to create necessary journal entries and salary allocation changes

• Monitor spending to identify expenditure tendencies and conduct cost-benefit analyses to determine program and cost efficiency

• Prepare regular and special budget reports, offering recommendations when necessary

• Attend all budget and forecast team meetings, actively participating in annual budget development and ongoing reviews

• Utilize software tools such as Sage Intacct, Microsoft Excel, bill.com for daily tasks and responsibilities

• Apply knowledge of Grant Accounting and Accounts Payable (AP) in executing tasks and responsibilities. Requirements • Proven experience in the role of a Staff Accountant or similar position

• Proficiency in Sage Intacct accounting software

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and its functionalities

• Experience with bill.com for managing financial operations

• Familiarity with Grant Accounting procedures and principles

• Proficiency in managing Accounts Payable (AP) processes

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field

• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in work

• Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret financial data

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decisions

• Familiarity with accounting regulations and standards

• Ability to handle confidential information responsibly

• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
