Eaton Corporation Automation Engineer in Moon Township, Pennsylvania

Eaton’s ES AMER ARS division is currently seeking an Automation Engineer within our Advanced Manufacturing team supporting the Residential Wiring Devices (RWD) business. This is a remote home based role with travel located in the United States, ideal candidates will reside near to major international airport.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $105000.03 - $154000.04 a year.

The Automation Engineer is responsible for driving metric improvements through automation and control improvements of current and new manufacturing operations. Key metric improvements include efficiency, quality & safety in manufacturing.

The Advanced Manufacturing Team is responsible for deployment of Industry 4.0 tools & technologies such as: manufacturing automation, augmented reality, factory simulation, autonomous vehicles, process control & traceability, digital work instructions, additive manufacturing and data analytics.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead projects to deploy Industry 4.0 tools & technologies into manufacturing operations through a phase-gate project management process (PROLaunch)

  • Work closely with cross-functional resources to execute projects – Information Technology, Operational Excellence, Production, Quality, Facilities

  • Guide & support plant teams with manufacturing automation and alternatives to current methodologies.

  • Work as liaison to divisional manufacturing leaders, plant teams, and suppliers

  • Align Industry 4.0 project objectives to continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Assist manufacturing teams in the development, submission & approval of business cases for Industry 4.0 project opportunities.

  • Train key plant personnel on the Industry 4.0 tools & technologies being deployed to ensure successful adoption and achieve improvement objectives.

  • Develop knowledge & expertise in the Industry 4.0 tools & technologies to be a subject matter expert (SME) for the deployment sites and teams.

  • Coordination and oversight of projects from concept to implementation and scaling.

  • Assist with development of purchase agreements and contracts with key suppliers and machine builders.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering from an accredited institution

  • Three (3)+ years controls or automation experience, 1 year hands on in manufacturing

  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S without sponsorship now and within the future

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time domestically and internationally

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five (5)+ years experience manufacturing engineering and controls (OpEx; Lean Manufacturing; CI)

  • Fluent in Spanish

  • Experience in controls engineering, programming, automation, and robotics.

  • Manufacturing system experience

  • Understands machine connectivity, communication protocols & data management

  • Understands IT infrastructure & system integration

  • Lean manufacturing & Six Sigma

Position Criteria:

  • Knowledge of automated manufacturing CNC and robotic operations (G, M-code, Ladder/Control Logics, PLC, SCADA, HMI, Vision)

  • Knowledge of industrial/manufacturing certification requirements (RIA, OSHA, ISO, UL,CE)

  • Computer Aided Drafting

  • Building and delivering scalable techniques

  • Project management experience, risk management & change management.

  • Communicates effectively to build rapport

  • Act as change agent, drive and enable change.
