Center for Human Services Shuttle Driver in Modesto, California

Center for Human Services (CHS) is seeking a reliable, customer-oriented, safe driver to join our Operations team as a Shuttle Driverdriving employees to and from a nearby parking location to the main office in Modesto. This is a temporary position working approximately 6 hours per day M-F daytime and anticipated to be a 3- to 6-month assignment.

POSITION SUMMARY:The Shuttle Driver will drive an agency vehicle to transport employees from an off-site parking location to the work site.

DUTIES:

  1. Drives company cars to transport employees.
  2. Picks up passengers at prearranged locations.
  3. Ensures passengers reach their destinations safely and on time.
  4. Observes safety regulations and state laws regarding vehicle operation; ensures passengers also follow applicable safety regulations.
  5. Communicates with dispatchers by radio, phone, or computer to receive requests for passenger service.
  6. Ensures vehicle equipment such as brakes, lights, windshield wipers, etc., is maintained and operating properly.
  7. Reports vehicle problems to supervisor.
  8. Submits accident reports when needed.
  9. Conducts routine maintenance on vehicles including adding gasoline, oil, and water checking tire pressure, ensuring vehicles are washed and cleaned; communicates the need for more specialized maintenance and repairs.
  10. Assist with general maintenance and facilities requests as assigned and outside of scheduled shuttle service.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. 1 year related work experience
  2. Excellent driving skills
  3. Clean driving record
  4. Effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  5. Strong time management skills
  6. Thorough understanding of traffic regulations, road signs and routes
  7. High school diploma or equivalent
  8. Pass agency paid criminal justice screening including fingerprints
  9. Pass agency paid TB (Tuberculosis) screening
  10. Pass agency paid health screening and/or drug testing, if required
  11. Valid California drivers license and proof of auto insurance coverage
  12. Pass agency paid MVR clearance with no more than 2 points - if you are under the age of 25 our insurance company will not allow any points

  6. Participate in assigned scheduled agency meetings, in-service trainings, conferences and other trainings as determined by the supervisor. This includes serving as an agency representative at assigned community meetings.
  7. Observance of assigned working hours and program appointments by emonstrating promptness and thorough preparation.
  8. Performance of assigned duties with a positive attitude and in the spirit of teamwork, collaboration and cooperation.
  9. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  10. Perform job duties in a safe manner to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others.
  11. Participates in and/or supports agency fund development activities and events.
  12. Preparation of assigned reports, work records, statistical data, job performance evaluations, work plans, etc. in a timely manner.
