Madison, WI / Chemical Analysis Division - Spectroscopy

How will you make an impact

With your analytical skills and broad engineering background, you will work closely with multi-disciplinary R&D product development teams to develop and lead reliability testing for high quality scientific instrumentation. This includes development and codifying system architecture, optical design, FMEA & P-diagrams for projects and crafting and implementing test plans to prove performance, isolate and fix root cause of failures, and set published and manufacturing specifications

What will you do

  • Apply the theories and principles of science, mathematics, statistics, and engineering to develop highly robust reliability test plans, equipment and software.

  • Evaluate performance at component and system levels via modeling and experimental methods during integration and testing phases.

  • Design system level test plans, lead FMEA, DoE, RCCA activities and drive follow up with project team members

  • Develop and maintain technical requirements for product development projects.

  • Perform data analysis, document results of system test plans using detailed, written test reports

  • Provide regular feedback to project managers on critical issues pertaining to technical and schedule risks.

  • Build positive relationships with product development through strong technical leadership.

How will you get here

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry required, MS preferred

Experience

  • 7+ years new product development experience bringing scientific products to market

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Demonstrated proficiency with FMEA, DOE, RCCA techniques for new product development

  • Proven system level design experience pertaining to scientific instrumentation products.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with statistical data analysis techniques and software (JMP, R, Excel).

  • Demonstrated ability to apply scientific principles to tackle multi-functional or domain design challenges.

  • Programming skills to support development of custom test fixtures and procedures (C#, Python)

  • Ability to independently drive innovative solutions, test practices and technologies.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Process oriented with demonstrated attention to details.
