Transition Specialist

Aon are currently recruiting a Transition Specialist to join our team in London. The Investment Transition Specialist will be primarily focused on transition management exercises covering our UK Retirement & Investment Business. Your primary objective is to assist in the oversight of the transition process in the UK ensuring advice provided to clients appropriately addresses the key risks inherent in transitioning client portfolios across all asset classes.

What the day will look like

  • Recommending optimal transition strategies that minimise costs and risk;

  • Evaluate the need for an external transition manager;

  • This will include evaluating managers through ongoing due diligence including write-ups, meetings, conference calls and onsite visits;

  • Maintain knowledge of developments within the transition management industry;

  • Remain abreast of regulatory developments that may impact transition events;

  • Assist client consultants in deciding the right course of action for each transition;

  • Draft direction letters and review pre- and post- trade reports where needed;

  • Provide oversight and support during transition when needed;

  • Maintaining log of transition activity conducted on behalf of Aon Hewitt clients;

    How this opportunity is different

    This role will provide the opportunity to work directly with our vast Advisory and OCIO client base and internal teams to supervise the asset transition process across the UK practice. This is a critical role within Aon that will allow you to lead from day one and gain exposure across multiple teams within our business. This role is critical to the growth and success of Aon and the work with do within the Wealth business.

    Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • Experience in working on in-house Transition exercises and/or working with external Transition Managers preferable;

  • Good investment knowledge and experience in investment industry;

  • Knowledge of operational aspects of different investment account structures including pooled, segregated and international account structures;

  • Understanding of how to maintain market exposure through matching liquidity timeframes and/or derivatives preferable;

  • Familiarity with the role of custodians/trustees in opening accounts, safekeeping assets, accounting/reporting, settling trades, use of sub-custodians in international markets;

  • FIA/CFA and/or equivalent preferred;

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to work independently on a variety of projects, receive instructions from a number of people and meet project deadlines;
