Job Title: Food Service Worker (FSW)

Location: Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC)

We are seeking to hire Nutrition Department Specialists for the BAMC kitchen and the dining facility, with other work locations based on staffing requirements, short-term shortages, or unscheduled absences. These positions provide great pay and employees will receive the Health and Welfare fringe benefit of $4.23 an hour in addition to the hourly wage determination.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

• Assemble, cover, and label cold food items such as sandwiches, salads, pastries, desserts, drinks (such as tea or lemonade), and fruit according to the daily preparation schedule, task list, or foodservice production schedule. Assist with set up/stock serving areas and self-service areas with paper goods, cups, silverware, napkins, condiments, take-out bags and other designated customer items
• Serve cooked menu items and cold bulk food items with proper size utensils, according to the serving size indicated by the production sheet and/or immediate supervisor.
• Replenish all cold and hot food items, individual self-service food items, packaged commercial foods and snacks.
• Retrieve cooked foods from the main kitchen and transport to the Grab N Go or other serving area for restocking, refilling service areas, as indicated by food production schedule, usage in service area and/or supervisor direction. Transport of food items requires pushing a heavy, covered, wheeled cart from the main kitchen area to remote feeding sites at a nearby building.
• Assist in the dish room with dishwashing in the kitchen.
• Clean and sanitize dishwashing area counters, mop floors.
• Wash service and transport carts, according to regular cleaning schedule.
• Stores clean foodservice pots and pans, cooking equipment, and other serving utensils in the proper areas.
• May work on the cash register during employee shortages or during peak hours.
• Using recipes or instructions from packages, prepares nourishments/snacks and special beverages, or other foods required by regular and therapeutic/modified consistency diets.
• Prepare a variety of cold foods such as sandwiches, salads, desserts, and beverages.

Qualifications and Skills

• U.S. citizenship.
• Military Veteran or Experience preferred.
• Speak English clearly.
• Must be able to pass extensive background check and drug tests.
• Immunizations (Hep A x2 Hep Bx3 MMRS Varicella Flu yearly TB Test x2 TDAP current 10years Covid Vaccine currently optional.)
• Must be flexible to work morning, mid-morning, overnight and weekends as needed.
• Dedication to on-time on arrival for shifts.
• Able to work as part of a team in a busy kitchen atmosphere.
• Comply with company safety standards and dress code always.
• Must lift up to 40 pounds
• Positive, helpful attitude toward customers and peers.
• Must be able to pass drug screening.
• Must have a clean criminal background.
• Must have his/her own vehicle with current auto insurance.
