Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer MBSE to join our team in Huntsville, AL . The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's IBCS Systems Engineering and Integration team.

The candidate will support architecture and integration needs, to include designing, validating, and maintaining the architecture against requirements baselines. He/she may lead trade studies, gap analyses, and other activities to assess proposed changes to the architecture. Candidate must have the ability to work effectively within a team environment, ability to interface with other groups within the project, well developed problem-solving skills, and ability to work within a dynamic environment. Candidate should possess strong experience in the application of model-based system engineering (MBSE) to define architectural views using UPDM (DoDAF/MoDAF) and SysML.

The individual shall also:

  • Derive mission threads and use cases.

  • define system functions and trace to requirements

  • Facilitate subject matter experts, stakeholders, and customers throughout the process of developing architectural specifications.

  • Identify proposed changes to technical baseline documents (i.e., interface documents, specifications documents, architecture products).

  • Prepare and present engineering analysis, gaps, and recommendations to senior leadership.

Basic Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, the candidate must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below.

  • 14 years of System or Software Engineering experience with a Bachelor's of Science; 12 years of System or Software Engineering experience with Masters; 9 with a PhD

  • Extensive Experience with Systems Modeling Language (SysML) and the Unified Profile for DoDAF and MoDAF (UPDM)

  • Systems Engineering skills, including requirements definition/allocation, interface definition, verification & validation, and life-cycle management, and System Architecture

  • Proficiency with commercially available architecting tools such as Cameo EA / Magic Draw.

  • Ability to provide a wide variety of technical analyses and program management support to a government customer

  • Understanding of UML and SysML meta models

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools

  • Current DoD Secret security clearance with an investigation within the past 6 years

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science with 14 years of experience or Master's Degree and 12 years of experience or PhD with 9 years of experience

  • IBCS Experience or experience in development of U.S. Army Air and Missile Defense systems

  • Degree in Software Engineering

  • Experience in drafting, reviewing and interpreting technical data, including drawings and interconnect diagrams

  • Technical writing/communications experience

  • Experience with APIs

  • Experience with eclipse, C#, Javascript, or Java

  • Experience with SAFe Agile, and or Scrum Agile

Salary Range: $157,500 - $236,300

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
