SUMMARY
The College is seeking candidates to teach HU 210: https://www.grcc.edu/schools-departments/language-thought/humanities: 1 section Tuesday/Thursday 12:38 p.m. - 2:16 p.m. at Grand Rapids Uprep Academy High School. Applicants hired to teach for GRCC must establish a Michigan address prior to the start of employment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Teach GRCC course offering in Humanities: Introduction to Humanities • Perform tasks normally expected of adjunct faculty members
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education Credentials
• Master's Degree in Humanities or a Master's degree in a closely related field and 18 graduate credit hours in Humanities required. (Mandated by the Higher Learning Commission) • Only candidates with a minimum of a Master's Degree in Humanities or a Master's degree in a closely related field and 18 graduate credit hours in Humanities can be considered.
Work Experience
• College level teaching experience preferred. • Teaching experience at a community college preferred, but not required.
Equipment Use/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
• Ability to learn and use Blackboard, GRCC's Learning Management System. Training is provided. • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Physical Demands
• Some evening work (grading, preparing for class, responding to email questions) will be needed. • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.

• An understanding of and appreciation for the community college philosophy and student population. • An interest in working with diverse student populations, who represent a wide range of age, ethnicity, national origin, and ability. • A commitment to serve the Kent County community. • Demonstrated responsiveness, initiative, and organizational and problem-solving abilities. • Ability to perform routine and unexpected duties. • A willingness and an ability to learn college systems. • High energy level with enthusiasm and an interest in helping and supporting students and colleagues. • Ability to work under pressure while possessing mature judgement and flexibility in regards to interruptions and schedule changes. • Must use good judgement in handling sensitive or difficult situations in a professional manner.
