Talbot County Government Assistant State's Attorney in Easton, Maryland
Summary:
Reporting to the States Attorneys Office, the Assistant States Attorney is responsible for handling District Court Cases and Jury Trial Prayers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Try cases and participate in hearings in Circuit Court
- Handle bail review hearings
- Screen and prepare felony cases and JTPs
- Prepare victims and witnesses for trial
- Craft and negotiate plea offers
- Communicate with the Court and defense counsel
- Make effective arguments at sentencing
- Handle violations of probation
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an Accredited Law School;
- Must be admitted to the Maryland Bar;
- Must be proficient with computers and associated technology;
- Extensive interaction with the public is required;
- Excellent communication skills, detail oriented, and possesses good judgement;
- Ability to prioritize and manage information of a highly confidential nature;
- Be able to effectively multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

- Must be able to travel to and from court and handle lengthy dockets, hearings and trials.
Work Environment:
- Works in both an office and court setting.
