ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Intern will gain experience in electrical construction working with Project Managers, Estimators, and Hunt Electric team members. The Intern will work on preparing estimates for projects and other project planning and administration activities. This position is based at the Hunt Electric Duluth office with occasional travel to local project job sites. The position will have a 40-hour workweek in the summer with part-time work available during the school year if desired.

  • Assist Estimators and Project Managers in accurately estimating labor, materials, and administrative costs for electrical construction projects.

  • Prepare, process, and maintain files, correspondence, schedules, reports, and billings under the guidance of Project Managers.

  • Develop and maintain good relationships with customers and project staff at all points of the bidding and project timeline.

  • Assist in the planning of the project through purchasing, engineering, subletting and installation.

  • Complete submittals and close outs for projects.

  • Work with Project General Foremen located at project locations.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Pursuing degree in electrical construction, construction management, electrical engineering or similar discipline preferred.

  • Basic knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).

  • Experience with or desire to learn Bluebeam and Accubid Enterprise.

  • Positive attitude with desire to learn new things.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to meet daily deadlines.

  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

  • Self-starter and able to work independently and in team environment.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, filing cabinets, photocopiers and fax machines.

  • This job may occasionally operate at job sites, be exposed to hazards typical of a construction site, and may require close toe shoes or work boots, hard hat, high visibility vest, eye protection and gloves.

  • Employees are frequently required to sit, and occasionally required to kneel, reach, stoop, crouch or crawl.

  • This position requires the ability to lift files, open file cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary.

  • This position may occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.
