Sharp Electronics Corporation Accounting Manager in Downers Grove, Illinois

Overview

The Accounting Manager recruits, supervises, and develops the Senior Accountant and Staff Accountant. This role is responsible for the accuracy, timeliness, consolidation, and internal control compliance for the general ledger.

Functional responsibilities include managing the integrity of the balance sheet and related reserve and asset accounts as well as P&L ownership for reporting structure and closing statement analysis. Financial reporting responsibilities include the timely and accurate reporting of Sharp and SNDSJ requirements, internal monthly financial pack and consolidation reporting support. The Accounting Manager also provides audit and tax support. The Accounting Manager plays the Business Process Owner role in any SAP implementation, upgrade or structure changes.

The position also supports the Controller and works closely with other departments to provide financial reporting, financial analysis and SAP updates and maintenance. The role is accountable for development efforts of automated reporting and analysis tools.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and develop the accounting team. Provide support to direct reports for completion of responsibilities and project related activities.

  • Oversee AP transactional activities, employee expense report administration and processing, SAP process support and annual 1099 completion.

  • Administer Corporate Purchasing Card, Concur expense reporting and Vertex sales tax software.

  • Authorization of invoices received. Approval of purchase requisitions submitted for processing.

  • Complete audit PBC schedules and auditor engagement as assigned. Administer the Finance team direct reports for their same responsibilities.

  • Manage the sales/use tax functions and state sales/use tax audits which includes working closely with Vertex and outside tax vendors in both the US and Canada.

  • Responsible for the timely and accurate support for federal and state tax provisions and income tax returns. This requires working closely with the outside tax preparation vendor and administration of tax PBCs to the outside tax preparation vendor.

  • Ensure accounting compliance with USGAAP, JSOX and IFRS.

  • Produce and analyze recurring and ad hoc financial reports, schedules and statements.

  • Manage SAP system data updates and maintenance.

  • Manage the monthly general ledger consolidation and annual year end accounting period roll forward.

  • Drive the monthly financial close activities which include journal entry preparation, preliminary results analysis, completion of assigned DIVA schedules for self and team and account reconciliation reviews and corrections.

  • Ensuring the integrity of the Balance Sheet, through monthly review of Account Reconciliation review; including the assignment of accounts to Finance department staff and review and verification with the Controller, no later than 15 days past the close date.

  • Accounting/Finance SAP subject matter expert.

  • Report and analysis development from SAP and Sharp Business Warehouse (BW).

  • Finance participation/ownership of inventory and warranty related issues, accruals and reporting.

  • Support of various other accounting and finance responsibilities

  • Continuous process improvement initiatives

  • Other projects as assigned by the Controller.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent.

  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in Financial Accounting.

  • 2-4 years managerial experience is preferred.

  • Effective delegation to direct reports and ability to hold them accountable for timely and accurate results.

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including intermediate to expert Excel skills.

  • Ability to work independently and deliver results.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including active status updates.

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines.

  • Solid team player exhibiting excellent initiative.

  • Capability to work effectively with multiple teams and personalities.

  • Ability to interact with Executives and Management.

  • Experience with SAP or other large ERP systems.

  • Experience with Business Information tools such as Board.

  • CPA or MBA preferred.

Compensation for this position

The compensation range for this role is$84,150-$142,900. The listed salary range or contractual rate excludes bonuses, incentives, differential pay, and any other forms of compensation or benefits. The starting salary will be determined by several variables, including but not limited to experience, education, training, certification, and location. You may also be eligible to receive an annual discretionary incentive award, commissions, and program-specific awards, which are subject to the rules governing these programs.
