Responsibilities The Staff Occupational Therapists supports, communicates, implements and enforces the philosophy, mission, values, standards, policies and procedures of Nationwide Children's Hospital. *Evaluates patients with varied diagnoses to determine developmental and/or functional status using standardized measures or clinical observations; identifies patient's strengths and deficits; establishes long and short term goals; and develops an individualized treatment plan incorporating patient and family needs. *Administers therapeutic treatment to patients with developmental delay or functional deficits to provide optimal development, function, and independence; utilizes developmental activities and other treatment techniques to meet each patient?s specific needs and achieve therapy goals; observes progress and/or changes in patient's condition and modifies treatment plan accordingly. *Fabricates, recommends or provides adaptive equipment, splints or casts to maintain functional body joint positions, restrict muscle contractures, prevent deformities, and improve function or mobility. Fits patient and instructs patient and family on use of item. *Educates parents on their child's treatment goals and therapy plan; instructs patients and parents on therapeutic activities to follow while in hospital or at home; documents instruction and evaluates ongoing compliance and understanding. *Documents patients evaluation results, objective status, progress towards goals, treatment plan, and recommendations in compliance with documentation requirements of the hospital and accrediting associations; utilizes appropriate computerized or standardized documentation methods, as applicable to caseload.
