Hamilton College Visiting Assistant Professor of Chemistry (3 positions) in Clinton, New York

The Chemistry Department at Hamilton College invites applications for three positions at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor, beginning July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025. Teaching responsibilities for these positions are five courses consisting of lecture and/or laboratory sections. The department seeks colleagues who can teach foundational courses in: physical chemistry, organic chemistry, biological chemistry, and/or analytical chemistry depending on their area(s) of expertise; applicants should specify in their cover letter which of these areas they are qualified to teach. Candidates for the positions may contribute to a general chemistry course or offer an advanced course in their area of expertise, depending on departmental needs. Successful candidates may also have the opportunity to mentor student research projects. We are seeking candidates who can demonstrate their experience in teaching or working with broadly diverse student populations. The Hamilton College Chemistry Department consists of eight tenure-track and two instructional faculty. The faculty regularly engage with students in research through the required senior project and the summer research program. The department is excellently resourced with instrumentation for research as well as for instruction and is housed with other sciences in a unified science center. Applicants will normally possess a Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field and must be committed to undergraduate education and demonstrate excellence, or the potential for excellence, in teaching undergraduates. Candidates who are A.B.D. at the time of application will be considered. The expected 9-month base salary range for this position is $74,400 to $76,900.
