The Division of Hospital Medicine of the Department of Internal Medicine is seeking to fill three (3) full-time Advanced Practice Providers (APP). NP or PA eligible. Anticipated schedule may be subject to change. This individual would provide direct patient care services (i.e. as a "hospitalist") to medical inpatients at UC Medical Center, with the availability of a collaborating Hospital Medicine physician as needed. Anticipated Schedule (may be subject to change): Mixed days/nights with an average of 91 nights, 66 days, 157 shifts per year, typically assigned in 7-day blocks. Nights Only - 147 shifts per year. Nights in our observation unit and days on inpatient units, observation unit or consults. Essential Functions Daily provision of inpatient medical care, including: Patient histories and physical examinations. Review of laboratory and diagnostic results. Independent clinical reasoning and ordering of additional laboratory and diagnostic studies. Adjustments to medical and pharmacological therapies. Daily progress notes. Discharge summaries. Communication with physicians & other providers involved in the patient's care. Billing for E&M services rendered. Order and schedule laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures; explain the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient. Order new medications or adjust existing therapies based on clinical developments. Monitor progress of patients, adjusting therapeutic interventions and engaging a collaborative hospital medicine physician, or specialty consultation, when necessary. Coordination of discharge transitional care & follow up. Participate in the education of nursing staff on the unit. Be actively involved with Quality Management, data collection, and performance improvement initiatives. Other activities and/or duti
