Job Description Summary

The Production Leader manages large hourly teams to ensure the daily and weekly operation of the shop is maintained in line with safety, quality, delivery and cost metrics. The Production Leader will have the ability to impact the quality of their own work and the work of their teams acting as a key knowledge resource for multiple sections.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities include:

Oversight and management of all sections using the fundamentals of Lean including 5S, workplace organisation and daily management ( SQDCP) to ensure:

  • Strategic monitoring of section Safety standards with a focus on continuous improvement.

  • Strategic monitoring of section Quality standards with a focus on continuous improvement.

  • Provide leadership within multiple sections with full decision-making autonomy with respect of meeting the Delivery plan. Resolves issues in situations that require strong process knowledge and judgment within established business procedures.

  • Ensures daily management process is followed at section level with a focus on productivity and Cost compliance.

  • Responsible for all aspect of People management including time and attendance, absence and performance management.

Achieve key responsibilities through:

  • Manages the section leaders within the area promoting cross-team flexibility and ensuring collaboration across site.

  • Strong understanding of key business drivers and Lean tools and uses this understanding to accomplish priorities set in line with the annual PPG process.

  • Strategic management of sections including tooling requirement and section training plans.

  • Leading problem solving when escalated by section and coordinating multiple cross functional departments as required.

  • Coaches the section leaders to promote good communication to develop and maintain a positive work climate

  • Rigorous application of existing policy and procedures relating to people leadership matters.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Previous experience of section/people leadership or similar preferred but not essential.

  • Previous experience working within the Aviation sector or similar highly regulated/manufacturing environment.

  • Proactive approach to problem-solving with agile collaboration skills

  • Strong oral and written communication skills and be able to converse with all levels of Management

  • Existing or ability to work toward Lean tool champion status.
