Position Summary:

The Associate Director, Project Management Office is responsible for providing strategic leadership in the prioritization, planning, and execution of major cross-functional projects and programs at the Bothell site in alignment with site strategy. This role will direct and provide oversight to a team of project management resources to ensure comprehensive planning and optimal execution of projects.

The Associate Director, PMO will actively engage with key stakeholders within the Strategy and Business Operations team, site leaders and global teams to align processes and tools. Drive the development of project and portfolio management capabilities within the department and across the site, with influence at the network level.

This role directs the management of major operational cross-functional projects and programs at the manufacturing site. Project drivers may include change initiatives identified through the annual planning and budgeting process, run-the-business needs, due diligence, business continuity, product launches, product lifecycle maintenance, and new legal and regulatory requirements.

Duties/Responsibilities :

Accountable for directing a team of project managers to ensure comprehensive planning and timely execution of major cross-functional site and network projects and programs to achieve key milestones and meet strategic business objectives by:

  • Leading resource planning for internal and external PMO resources needed to deliver on key strategic and operational projects and programs.

  • Driving PMO team performance against achievement of strategic objectives, identifying priorities, and ensuring alignment with goals.

  • Developing and promoting a diverse, positive, and inclusive work environment to optimize performance - mentoring the team to achieve project and development goals.

  • Ensuring effective collaboration and communication with key operational and functional stakeholders across strategic site and network projects and programs.

  • Working with site and network PMO resources and leadership to identify roadblocks, identify solutions, and escalate for awareness and/or resolution as appropriate.

Establish and manage processes for selection and prioritization of projects to align and optimize allocation of site resources towards strategic and operational network and site goals by:

  • Providing PMO support to strategic roadmap development, feasibility, and business cases as needed.

  • Acting accountable for accurate reporting of project and portfolio data to drive planning and decision making.

  • Monitoring major cross-project and portfolio level risks and drive scenario analyses to identify and manage the impact of major network, site or portfolio changes on project plans and timelines.

  • Overseeing the development of project tracking and KPI dashboards and tools to support project managers and site KPIs, including scope, budget, and resources.

Set site standards for project management processes, tools, and best practices by:

  • Representing the site at network level forums and initiatives, influencing the management of strategic projects and programs.

  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining processes, tools, and training needed for effective project, program, and portfolio management from initiation through completion.

  • Driving consistency in use of project, program, and portfolio tools and templates in line with best practices, balancing the benefits of standardization with flexibility.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, information technology, business, or related field.

  • Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience including 3 years of people management and 2 years of experience in a manufacturing operations environment, preferably in life sciences.

  • Advanced knowledge of financial, operational, and business management principles

  • Experience working in biopharma, cell therapy, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), FDA regulated, or other regulated environments is a plus

  • Advanced expert in the use of Microsoft Project.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Excel, SharePoint, and PowerPoint.

  • Experience in driving resource management for a large organization.

  • Successful performance in a matrixed environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously while consistently delivering high quality results.

  • Ability to act proactively, detail oriented, flexible, and able to multi-task.

  • Comfortable working in a rapidly changing environment. Able to prioritize across competing demands.

  • Ability to travel, up to 10%.

  • A team player with the desire to build positive relationships and contribute to a collaborative work environment.

The starting compensation for this job is a range from $149,000 - $188,000.​, plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility).

The starting pay takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills and where the job is performed. Final, individual compensation is decided based on demonstrated experience.
