The FAU Center for Online and Continuing Education (COCE) is seeking a Junior Data Scientist -Boca Raton, FL.

The successful candidate will have an enthusiasm for leveraging technology to enhance student-learning environments and improve student-learning outcomes. Experienced in education research and transformative Artificial Intelligence innovations, the JDS will work with a team of researchers focused on supporting effective student-learning. The JDS will work on projects geared toward successful student preparedness for the digitally connected and competitive workforce. Those encouraged to apply must have a desire to propel a career in research and data analytics related to digital learning with the tools, skills, and experience gained from being a team member in the FAU Center for Online and Continuing Education.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Assist with quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods educational research

  • Assist with educational research and development

  • Assist in organizing data for compatibility with analytical tools

  • Collaborate on research dissemination for, but not limited to, scholarly academic writing, journal submissions, and professional conference presentations, as needed

  • Assist with grant and award writing

  • Collaborate on data collection instrument development

  • Assist with other initiatives for the Center for Online and Continuing Education, as assigned

  • Experience with statistical software, such as SPSS or similar

  • Experience collaborating on academic teams with individuals from varying professional backgrounds

  • Functional knowledge of varying coding language

  • Outstanding organizational abilities and attentiveness to detail

  • Experience working in the Canvas Learning Management System

  • Willingness to learn software programs and coding languages, as needed

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Willingness to flex and adapt

  • Willingness to serve as a team player

  • Problem-solving skills

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's of Science in Experimental Psychology, Information Technology and Management, Computer Science and Data Analytics; or similar degree from an accredited institution required.

Preferred skills:

• Ability to identify and utilize tools and coding languages that may serve varying projects, such as, SQL, MATLAB, PyCharm, and VPython

• Functional knowledge of the Adobe Suite

• Functional knowledge of EndNote software

• Experience with graphic design for User Experience functionality and aesthetics

Salary:

$25.00 to $35.00 per hour.
