Philips Usability Engineer in Best, Netherlands

Make sure that our products exhibit an excellent User Experience.You build and execute the usability plan and activities and work in the different stages of the design process to identify areas where usability, safety and the overall user experience can be improved. Additionally, you support the product validation activities.

Your role

  • Delivering the Usability requirements & Usability evidence throughout the product creation and post market process, ensuring the product release meets regulatory, customer- & business needs

  • Perform workflow analysis and user research to understand the context of use and elicit user needs and usability requirements

  • Define usability validation plans, plan, and organize usability activities in co-operation with business partners (e.g. project managers, clinical marketing)

  • Conduct user testing and specialist reviews (e.g. cognitive walkthroughs) for the evaluation of Philips Healthcare products using established usability engineering practices

  • Advise on the usability aspect of design changes with the design team

  • Ensure that usability engineering is applied according to international standards (such as IEC 62366, FDA Guidance on Human factors)

  • Support the product validation activities such as develop validation protocols and execution of design validation

  • Ensure a good co-operation with other subject areas within the department, with Philips Design, and with similar fields in the other Philips Healthcare business units.

You are a part of

the Design Validation team within the R&D Department of the Image Guided Therapy (IGT) Business within Philips Healthcare. This Business Unit is responsible for marketing, service, development, and manufacturing of IGT systems used in the area of cardiac or vascular medical diagnosis and treatment (e.g. balloon angioplasty and stent procedures). Customers are interventional specialists, in the cardiology and radiology domain operating in a wide variety of hospitals across the globe. The team you will be working in is a high-performance, culturally diverse team working in a dynamic environment. We are approximately 10 people working in the areas of Usability, Design Validation and Process Improvement.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience:

  • MSc or PhD, with focus on Human-Computer Interaction and Usability

  • 1-5 years’ experience as a Usability Engineer

  • Proven knowledge of Human factors and interaction design, Usability methodologies, processes, and standards

  • Knowledge of the healthcare domain is a plus

  • Excellent communication & collaboration skills

  • Project and stakeholder management skills
