Philips Senior Designer FORS Venture, Optics in Best, Netherlands

Join our pioneering FORS venture at Philips where you'll spearhead the development of Fiber Optic RealShape (FORS) technology, revolutionizing minimally invasive medical procedures. As a Senior Designer Optics, you'll collaborate closely with our agile R&D team to drive innovation, create design concepts, and contribute to product development projects. Your role will involve pushing the boundaries of FORS technology, conducting feasibility studies, and ensuring the seamless integration of optical subsystems into our groundbreaking medical products and solutions. Your role:

  • As a Senior Designer Optics within the FORS Technology R&D team, you'll be instrumental in shaping the future of Image Guided Therapy by advancing critical aspects of FORS technology.

  • You'll lead initiatives to improve key aspects of FORS technology, conduct advanced development studies, and contribute to technology and product roadmaps.

  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, you'll design, realize, and test key subsystems, ensuring compliance with medical device standards and regulations.

  • This role offers significant growth potential, allowing you to expand your competencies while contributing to groundbreaking innovations that enhance patient outcomes globally.

You're the right fit if:

  • You hold a PhD in Physics or a related field, preferably with an optics related specialization or alternatively proven experience in a domain relevant to FORS technology; alternatively, a MSc in Physics or a related field with at least 4 years of proven experience in industrial R&D or product development in a domain relevant to FORS technology.

  • Your background includes expertise with at least one of the following domains: design and/or characterization of distributed fiber-optic sensors, optics/physics modeling techniques, interferometry, (statistical) data analysis; experience with design and development of optical (sub)systems for prototypes and/or products is considered a plus.

  • You possess experience with signal processing approaches. Algorithms, related programming skills and MATLAB experience is considered a strong plus.

  • You possess experience with (medical) product development projects, from initial concept up to and including release for delivery; knowledge of medical device standards and norm compliance is considered a strong plus; the ability to work in a regulated environment is a prerequisite.

  • With a proactive and results-driven mindset, you excel in fast-paced, collaborative environments, balancing attention to detail with a strategic focus on project objectives.

  • You're passionate about leveraging cutting-edge technology to improve patient care, eager to take on challenges, and thrive in a dynamic, team-oriented setting.
