Duties

We are looking for a Underwriter I - Small Business Unit - Nationwide to join our teamSummary -Evaluates property & casualty insurance applications to determine the risk involved: decides to accept or reject the application; determines appropriate premium.A typical day will include the following:Assists in determining the acceptability, conditions and pricing of specific property & casualty insurance risks and associated coverage.Maintains familiarity with the products, services, priorities and target markets in the property & casualty line of business or insurance segment.Maintains familiarity with the loss experience and business conditions of key accounts as well as loss trends and any major legal or economic factors affecting the property & casualty line of business.Communicates effectively with colleagues in underwriting and all support areas in order to meet the property & casualty insurance needs of customers. May accompany senior underwriter or marketing representative on appointments in assigned teritory.

Qualifications

• College Degree or equivalent experience, AINS or other designation related coursework preferable

• 1 to 3 years of underwriting experience, with Commercial Property experience

• Excellent analytical and communication skills.

• Ability to be detail oriented in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to travel in assigned geographic territory on agency calls.

Salary

Nationwide Salary Range:

$60,600 to $67,770

Ultimate salary offered will be based on factors such as applicant experience and geographic location.

Bonus/Annual Incentive

This position is eligible to participate in the Company's Annual Incentive Plan.
